Laminar flow monitoring - reliable and robust - even with intensive cleaning processes and use of aggressive media in pharmaceutical plants
Introducing the SCHMIDT® Flow Sensor SS 20.715 LED, a robust solution for continuous monitoring of laminar airflow in clean rooms and clean applications. With sensor elements completely encapsulated in stainless steel, it impresses with its resistance to aggressive media and dirt and also offers very good protection during the rough cleaning of pharmaceutical systems.
Monitoring the flow in cleanrooms and clean areas
A direction-defined air flow in clean rooms protects products from contamination and disruptive particles are safely removed. For this purpose, a uniform air flow from the ceiling to the floor is maintained in clean rooms with high cleanliness classes ("directed, low-turbulence displacement flow"; monitoring range from wN = 0.36 to 0.54 m/s). The measurement is carried out on the clean room side after the terminal filters. Since the air circulation is throttled during idle times, high-precision measurement of the air speed from 0.1 m/s is necessary.
The solution: measuring the supply air flow with the SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.715 LED
According to the EN ISO 14644-3 standard, the air speed is measured at a distance of around 150 to 300 mm below the front surface of the filter. For easy installation in ceiling and wall systems, the thermal SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.715 LED offers a cleanroom-compatible quick mounting system. The sensor is extremely compact, as all the electronics are built into the sensor tube and therefore no turbulence is generated in the low-turbulence displacement flow.
Individually adapted to each application
There are 3 standard variants to choose from for optimal installation in different applications. The laminar flow sensor can be mounted on the wall in a straight version with a sensor length of 300 mm or in an angled form under the ceiling of the clean room or the bottling plant. The angled design can be configured with the dimensions 270 x 300 mm or 150 x 300 mm (where the first dimension defines the distance to the ceiling; plus mounting system).
Robust solution for pure applications with aggressive media or intensive cleaning
The thermal SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.715 LED is the robust solution for extremely challenging clean room applications. Product changes in pharmaceutical filling plants or simply internal requirements force operators of clean rooms and plants in clean areas to clean them regularly. If aggressive media are used or if more intensive cleaning is required due to significant or very stubborn dirt, the new laminar flow flow sensor SS 20.715 LED with double pin sensor head made of stainless steel is the first choice. The double pin sensor was designed precisely for the aforementioned needs and is ideally suited for demanding applications thanks to the sensor elements completely encapsulated in stainless steel. In addition to the flow rate, the SS 20.715 LED also records the medium temperature from -20 °C to +70 °C. Thanks to the SCHMIDT® quick mounting system, which is suitable for clean rooms, the SS 20.715 LED can be exchanged for an existing sensor without any additional effort and installed as easily as usual. The sensor works without moving parts and due to the measuring principle, drift or aging are irrelevant. Due to the sensor elements being completely encapsulated in stainless steel, the maintenance of the sensor is reduced to an absolute minimum. However, should cleaning be necessary, this can be carried out very easily and in a variety of ways.
High accuracy and detection of the smallest currents
The special double-pin sensor head records flow velocities from 0.1 m/s up to 10 m/s in three selectable measuring ranges (1 / 2.5 / 10 m/s). In order to obtain precise measurement results in this speed range, each sensor is individually adjusted and calibrated in a high-quality wind tunnel. On request, the sensor can also be supplied with a DAkkS-accredited calibration.

Flow measurement in harsh conditions
The SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.700 is a robust solution for highly demanding heavy-duty applications in air and other gases. With sensor elements completely encapsulated in stainless steel, it impresses with its resistance to aggressive media and dirt.
Flow rates of gases – an important parameter in industrial processes
Energy saving and quality assurance measures are becoming increasingly important in the production process of industrial processes. The precise measurement of volume flows and flow rates of the gases plays a major role. The requirements for the intended flow sensor are high: The sensor should deliver precise measurement results in different gases, high overpressures and wide temperature ranges - even under the most difficult environmental conditions. Another criterion when choosing the right sensor is the avoidance of maintenance and high follow-up costs. Users want easy installation and reliable readings over the years. Robust solution for heavy-duty industrial processes and compressed air technology
The thermal SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.700 is the robust solution for extremely challenging industrial applications. It can be used for various applications such as compressed air monitoring, gas monitoring for process burners, metering of gas consumption and much more. The double pin sensor was designed precisely to meet the needs of so-called "heavy-duty applications" and is ideally suited for demanding applications such as e.g. B. the production of bio-gas. In addition, the sensor is resistant to aggressive media. In addition to the flow velocity, the SS 20.700 also records the medium temperature up to +120 °C. It can be used in small pipes from DN 40 and can also record the volume flow in large ducts up to a sensor length of 600 mm. The sensor can be used up to an overpressure of 16 bar. The installation of the sensor is very easy: Screw in the sensor using the supplied through-bolt, align it in the gas flow and in the middle of the pipe, connect electrically - done. The sensor works without moving parts and due to the measuring principle, drift or aging are irrelevant. Due to the sensor elements being completely encapsulated in stainless steel, the maintenance of the sensor is reduced to an absolute minimum. However, should cleaning be necessary, this can be carried out very easily and in a variety of ways - in the spirit of "heavy-duty".
High gas velocities and special gases
The special double pin sensor head records flow velocities from 0.1 m/s up to 220 m/s. In order to obtain precise measurement results in this very wide speed range, each sensor is individually adjusted in a high-quality pressure wind tunnel. The sensor can be supplied in individual versions for use in different gases, e.g. B. for pure oxygen, nitrogen, argon, CO2 and other gases.
Individually adapted to each application There are 2 standard sensor lengths to choose from for optimum installation in different pipe diameters. The SS 20.700 can also be ordered in a remote version for difficult installation conditions. The standard sensor lengths are available here, the cable length between sensor and housing can be freely defined (up to 10 m). In addition to various standard measuring ranges, the flow sensor can also be supplied with an application-specific measuring range. For media with an oxygen content of > 21% by volume, all parts that come into contact with the medium must be cleaned of grease, oil or other combustible components. Two special variants "Oxygen O2 > 21%" and "Fat-free and oxygen O2 > 21% (LABS-free)" provide the necessary security for these applications.
Modular function extension
In addition, the SS 20.700 has a module interface as standard for the modular expansion of the sensor's range of functions. The sensor can be parameterized via the module interface, a Bluetooth® wireless transmission to the SCHMIDT® Sensor App can be implemented or the additional 7-segment display MD 10.020 can be connected. The SCHMIDT® data logger DL 10.010 can also be operated via the module interface. The module interface also has an LED light ring, which signals communication with other additional modules by means of different colors and pulsing. The sensor parameterization enables e.g. B. a scaling of the measuring range to individual needs, the settingment of a damping and much more.
Highlights of the SCHMIDT® flow sensor SS 20.700: Sensor elements completely encapsulated in stainless steel
Large flow measurement range from 0.1 to 220 m/s

Redundant laminar flow monitoring at one measuring point
SCHMIDT® duplex flow sensor SS 20.415 Twin* is a high-precision 2-in-1 flow sensor solution for laminar flow monitoring. A redundant monitoring of the laminar flow with two independently working flow sensors at one measuring point, without mutual interference, is thus successfully solved.
Measuring and controlling the supply air flow with the SCHMIDT® duplex flow sensor SS 20.415 Twin
Two redundantly working flow sensors such as the SS 20.415 LED are often installed in one application, for example to map the control and monitoring of the laminar flow independently of one another. Limits are often reached when it comes to the optimal placement of the two sensors due to cramped spatial conditions. Even if the assembly can ultimately be implemented, the mutual influence of the two sensors is a big unknown. With the SCHMIDT® duplex flow sensor SS 20.415 Twin*, both of the above problems can be easily solved. By combining two flow sensors that work completely independently, it has been possible to implement a redundant flow measurement at the same measuring position and to eliminate the mutual influence of the two probes. Both flow signals are made available separately from each other via two analog outputs. Thanks to the SCHMIDT® quick mounting system, which is suitable for clean rooms, the duplex sensor can be exchanged for an existing sensor without any additional effort. The installation effort is identical, the space required for installation is slightly higher.
Highlights of the SCHMIDT® Duplex flow sensor SS 20.415 Twin*: Redundant protection of laminar flow applications
Two fully-fledged flow sensors working independently of each other in one unit
Easy installation at a measuring point
No mutual interference of the measurement
Constrained space becomes a minor matter
Plug and play and quick assembly
Precise measurement of small flow velocities [wN]
Straight and angled design for wall or ceiling mounting SCHMIDT® duplex flow sensor SS 20.415 Twin*: Optimally suited when double protection of the laminar flow monitoring is required and when space is limited. SCHMIDT® CamPress 11N
The best of both worlds
We have merged the best of the two types of hand lever press toggle press and rack and pinion press and developed the SCHMIDT® CamPress 11N from them. Thanks to this clever mechanism, the patented assembly press is characterized by particularly smooth operation and strong force at the end of the stroke. The ingenious kinematics make the manual CamPress 11N particularly ergonomic and user-friendly.
Highly efficient mechanics
The unique kinematics creates a high, linear force curve with a high breakaway torque at the beginning of the slide movement and a steep increase in force at the end of the stroke; and that with constant hand strength. The comparison of characteristics clearly shows the advantage of the force curve of the cam press in contrast to conventional rack and pinion presses as well as toggle presses and reflects the outstanding efficiency of the cam press. Diversity
The combination of linear and exponential force curve characteristics offers undreamt-of and, above all, flexible application possibilities. The following application examples are representative: The press also offers the possibility of permanent application of force such as B. when gluing or curing through the appropriate setting of the toggle lever beyond the extended position.
Ergonomics
The use of the counterweights and the ErgoHandle ensures a smooth sequence of movements and joint-friendly operation of the hand lever. Both components are part of the standard scope of delivery. Optimized return stroke mechanism for manual lever presses with ergonomic handle.
Options
Of course, the tried and tested options can also be used here: Return stroke lock

SCHMIDT® smart solutions with Bluetooth® technology - wireless flow sensor values are transmitted anytime and anywhere
In many installations, displays built into the flow sensor cannot be recognized or simply cannot be read due to the installation position of the sensor. Nevertheless, there is a need to display the measured values of the individual built-in sensors on site from time to time. This can now be implemented in the simplest way with the SCHMIDT® Bluetooth® module BT 10.010: An adapter is connected to each SCHMIDT® volume flow sensor to be monitored at the module connection. The system operator can now select one sensor after the other with the SCHMIDT® Sensor App previously installed on the mobile Android device, display the real-time measurements graphically on the smartphone or tablet and even record the values (data logger function). The recorded data can be saved as a CSV file and processed further. The SCHMIDT® Bluetooth® module BT 10.010 is ideally suited if the currently measured values of standard volume flow and medium temperature of various sensors are to be displayed one after the other on site.
